What’s New? March 2012

New Studio is Open!

Have you been to the Short North recently? Have you seen the latest edition? It’s US! We moved into our studio at 1242 N. High Street in November and couldn’t be happier! And, in case you haven’t noticed we also did a little brand revamping; we went from Baby Steps Studios to Amy Clark Studios with a brand new, colorful logo. Why, you ask? Well, I’ll tell you… we are growing up. We were moving into a new studio, introducing new branches and ideas, and adopting more members to our team, so it only made sense that the name grew too.

Fully moving into the studio only took a couple weeks of blood, sweat, and laughter but we got everything moved in, set up, and in working order just in time for Holiday pictures. We have had several shoots in here already and have loved every one. We are constantly adding new props and implementing new ideas to improve the aesthetic of the studio. Our goal is to provide everyone who steps into the studio with a unique and fun experience.

Faces of Autism project

A couple months ago, I was asked by the Columbus Arts Ball if I would be interested in helping out their charity event this year by contributing an art piece to the event. The Ball is held every year and benefits a different cause each year. This year, the event will benefit the Autism Society of Central Ohio. My project is called Faces of Autism. My puzzle piece will consist of tons of photos of various kids on the spectrum. My hope is to represent 100 different children in the project. Even though I am in the autism world on a daily basis, I only really see how autism affects my own child. By working on the project, I am immersing myself in this world and discovering that autism presents itself in so many different ways. When you say “AUTISM” most people picture a child sitting in a corner, rocking back in forth, counting numbers over and over again and yes, that CAN be a face of autism but there are so many different faces of autism. I am hoping with this project, I can help to show that each child with autism is different. There is a saying in the autism world… “If you have met one child with autism…you have met ONE child with autism.”

If you have a child on the spectrum and would like to participate, please email us at specialneeds@amyclarkstudios.com. The quick little session only takes about 10 minutes.

Ordering Sessions

Just as we are introducing the new studio as a whole we are also introducing a new ordering system. We have done away with online ordering and implemented over the phone and in person ordering. Over the phone ordering is best to use if you are pretty certain of what you are wanting and have little or no questions. In person ordering works best if you want color changes, want to order a book or collage or are just unsure of what exactly you and your family needs… Online galleries can be provided for family and friends after the ordering session.
